Spring 2023, Christian Academy Schools had the incredible opportunity to present Space Princess Wars—a hilarious and heartwarming mash-up of Star Wars and The Princess Bride—at the Historic Sidney Theatre. The production was a huge success, not only because of the passion and talent of our student cast and crew, but also the generous support of the Community Foundation of Shelby County and a $750 grant from the Ruble Keep Art in Your HeART Fund.

Thanks to the grant, our performing arts department was able to purchase new microphones, ensuring that every voice—whether a lead role or ensemble part—was clearly heard by our enthusiastic audience. With over 90 students involved in the production, this was our largest cast to date, which is especially significant given the size of our student body.

The upgraded audio equipment truly elevated the experience, allowing hundreds of families and community members to enjoy a professionally staged performance filled with laughter, creativity, and heart. The energy in the theatre was palpable, and the positive feedback we received speaks volumes about how much this performance meant to our students and community.

But beyond the stage lights and standing ovations, this experience offered something even more valuable: life lessons. Students involved in the production gained real-world skills—like teamwork, public speaking, problem-solving, adaptability, and leadership—that they will carry with them for years to come. In our program, everyone plays a vital role—from actors and stagehands to set designers and sound technicians. Each student learns that their contribution matters, and that supporting one another leads to something greater than any one performance.

At Christian Academy, we believe that the performing arts are not just about entertainment; they’re about community, growth, and joy. Our goal is to help students become confident, compassionate individuals who use their talents to connect with and uplift others.
