Supporting Our Littlest Neighbors: Grant Helps Wilson Health Advance Neonatal Training

At the Community Foundation of Shelby County, we believe that investing in the health and well-being of our community starts at birth—sometimes even in those very first critical moments of life.

That’s why we’re proud to award a grant to Wilson Health Foundation for the purchase of a newborn training simulator, an innovative tool developed in partnership with the American Academy of Pediatrics. This simulator is designed to enhance the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and elevate the level of care provided to newborns in our region.

Why This Matters

When seconds count, training matters.

The newborn simulator offers incredibly realistic physical and physiological responses, allowing healthcare providers to practice life-saving techniques in a setting that closely mirrors real-life medical emergencies—even those that happen in transit. Using real devices to monitor heart rate, breathing, and EtCO₂ levels, clinicians can hone their skills in neonatal resuscitation and improve patient outcomes.

This isn’t just an investment in equipment—it’s an investment in training, confidence, and ultimately, the safety of our most vulnerable patients.

A Shared Mission

Our grant to Wilson Health Foundation is part of our broader mission to support programs and projects that make a meaningful, lasting impact across Shelby County. Ensuring that every newborn has access to high-quality, responsive care is a cause we know resonates deeply with our donors and partners.

We are honored to play a small role in helping Wilson Health’s clinicians prepare for some of the most critical moments in their work—and in the lives of local families.

Thank you to everyone who supports the Community Foundation of Shelby County. Your generosity is what makes this kind of impact possible.
