Building Brighter Futures: Support the Ft. Loramie Elementary Sensory Barn!

The Fort Loramie Education Foundation believes every student deserves the tools and support to learn, grow, and thrive. That’s why we’re incredibly excited to launch our 2026 Match Day project: The Ft. Loramie Elementary Sensory Barn! This innovative project isn’t just about building a structure; it’s about building a foundation for mental wellness, emotional regulation, and academic success for all our students.

What is a Sensory Area and Why is it Essential?
A Sensory Area is a dedicated, therapeutic safe haven equipped with specialized tools like swings, tactile panels, and calming lights. Navigating a busy school day can be challenging, and sensory input is essential for:
• Self-regulation: Helping manage emotions and behaviors.
• Anxiety reduction: Offering calming activities to reduce stress.
• Improved focus: Meeting sensory needs so students can return to class ready to learn.
• Coping skills: Empowering children to handle challenges independently.

Our Vision: A Community-Built Sanctuary
Our project combines high-tech sensory tools with local heart. In addition to a climate-controlled Sensory Barn, our playground and classrooms will feature:
• Outdoor Sensory Paths: Engaging paths where students skip, balance, and hop to practice kinesthetic learning.
• Interactive Sensory Walls: Tactile panels featuring cloud mirrors, fiber optic elements, and musical play like tambourines and chimes.
• Skill Development: Activities that support fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, and cognitive engagement.
