Match Day 2026, the Shelby County Historical Society pauses to remember the brave Revolutionary War soldiers who were laid to rest on Shelby County soil, men who answered liberty’s call and helped give birth to our nation.
As we begin to celebrate America 250, we are reminded that our country’s story was not only written on famous battlefields, but also carried home by ordinary citizens who became extraordinary patriots. Their sacrifices echo through time, and their final resting places stand as quiet witnesses to the cost of freedom.
Many of these patriots are buried in cemeteries that are no longer maintained, their markers hidden by underbrush, stones fallen or missing, and names in danger of being lost to history. Your Match Day donation will help us restore dignity to these sacred places.
Your support will help the SCHS strengthen our connection to America’s founding ideals, ensure these soldiers are remembered with the honor they earned, and helps preserve Shelby County’s role in our nation’s founding story. We remain dedicated to honoring, preserving, and commemorating the Revolutionary soldiers buried in Shelby County, so their names, service, and legacy are never forgotten.
Please help us to mark the final resting places of Shelby County Revolutionary War Veterans and preserve their memory for future generations. Together, we honor the past, protect these hallowed grounds, and carry forward the spirit of America 250; one of remembrance, gratitude, and enduring freedom.
