New-Skills Scholarship Program
We are expanding our current scholarship program to tailor to individuals pursuing the “other four-year degree.”
Not every student that advances into higher education signs up for a four-year curriculum. Some high school graduates and post-graduates seek job training that lasts a year or two and then places them into the workforce. Technical, trade, adult education, and Associate’s Degree programs don’t always bask in the financial aid limelight. However, the Community Foundation of Shelby County (CFSC) wants to make sure these individuals pursuing this route have the capability to receive scholarships, too.
Skilled workers have many opportunities within local companies and the ability to earn a good paying wage. We hope to narrow the skills gap with this scholarship program by making these types of programs more obtainable.
This program will be available for high school seniors and adults who reside in Shelby County or the School Districts of Shelby County. The online application opens on December 13, 2019, and closes March 12, 2020, visit commfoun.com. For those seeking to apply, the process will be simplified, straightforward, and separate from our traditional scholarship application. Please note an interview will be a part of the application process. For more information about scholarship opportunities and the application process, contact Juli Smith – Scholarship and Grants Administrator at 937-497-7800 or email@example.com .
Our goal is to provide ten scholarships at $2,000 each. We are offering an amount that is meaningful as these types of programs have a shorter duration but have high upfront costs. If you would like to help these students find their successful career path by providing funding, please contact Jessica Fortkamp – Donor Relations Director at 937-497-7800 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
